One Space after a Period

After nearly half a century of typing, all of a sudden, I have to learn to just put once space after a period. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD THAT IS FOR ME? I know I'm not alone, so I can quit the narcissistic "poor me" durge now. It is TOUGH. I am writing this very article and had to just stop and delete my extra space. I guess I can do a global for my entire site and delete the extra periods - I can probably write a neat script to do so. Why not?
It it said the reason why is that when typewriters came out, they had monospaced fonts. Not the proportional spaced fonts we are accustomed to now. Two spaces were used on to give the eye a clearer visual break between sentences. Makes sense, and someone decided to say "Hey, it's 2026. Let's change it up. (OOPS had to go back and remove another extra space...)
It's allright, I'm old, but I can adapt to the times. Modern things are good (except for most of the music except for new Country), and I can move forward.
Sentence Case for Titles
At work, not only have we have adapted the single space after periods (and colons too - I guess) , but have also started doing sentence case on titles. I have problems with this one.
A title is just that - a title! It is distinctive - it designates the title of a place - a book - a movie - etc. Why should we go with sentence case? Haven't we dumbed enough things down?
Oh no, I'm told; it has nothing to do with dumbing anything down. It's easier to read. It is?
I don't agree with that one. I will continue to use Title Case on My Titles and that's that.
The bad thing is that the 'habit' is starting to creep into my writing and I don't like it. It's like when I hear someone say "irregardless" and my skin crawls, and I feel my mom coming back from the beyond and screaming "WHAT DOES THAT MEAN THEN? IT'S A DOUBLE NEGATIVE!"
