New Year, New Lives

January 2, 2023

Heartbreak is a doozy.  Heartbroken over losing Simone a little over a month ago, we brought new lights into our home.  There was a huge void!  It was so huge, it is taking two lights to help comfort us (no cat will ever replace another; that's not how it works).   It wasn't intentional; is it ever?  First Cristal, and then Sapphire.

We adopted "Cristal" (right)  who was born on September 15, 2022.  Mason, our tuxedo, immediately bonded with her from the moment they met, and took over mothering duties (sans the nursing!)  She is tiny and a ball of energy!  My friend who is a retired vet has a formula/theory about growth and predicts that she won't make it to 10 pounds, so she'll probably be a little kitty.  We shall see!

Sapphire came later - since we had been graced with Simone and her mixed Siamese personality, we really wanted another Siamese in the fold.  A link was sent to me to show me Sapphire.  Sapphire had a rough start in life - a ruptured eye at 5 weeks, and being "too young" for surgery.  Her medical records indicated she only weighed .77 /lb when she was first seen!  Born sometime in April, 2022, she was sitting in foster care awaiting her forever home.  We have given her this home.

Sapphire is a bit timid; again, Mason welcomed her to the family immediately.  She has stayed primarily in our bedroom as her "home base" but explores a bit more each day.  She is very sweet, so soft to the touch and and is very soft spoken.   We don't hear her very much and she will greet us with a silent or soft mew.  She sleeps with us very nicely.  Cristal sleeps with us SOMETIMES; she is very active at times and wants to run around and do "foot chasing" while we are trying to sleep.

We are happy to have these girls join our home and will provide them happy lives and hope those lives are long!
