I Can See You Now!
April 14, 2026
I got new lenses! In my eyes! I didn't think I was going to do this for a while, but I did it! Besides not having glasses, I wanted to show how the color has changed - it went from regular to 4K!
I waited about 6 weeks for the Big Day to come - and it was very pleasant. We stayed at a hotel just down the street from the center the night before so we wouldn't have to fight traffic to get there (Daly City). Turns out, my surgeon stayed at the same place, so we all drove together the half mile to the center. That was fun, and he was very warm and compassionate. They prepped me, gave me some interesting sedatives, and then took me into the operating room, got me situated, and away we went! I have the videos - pretty gnarly - not for the faint of heart, but fascinating to me. Here is
one of them but be warned, it's pretty intense. The first part shows the incision being made, and my old lens being obliterated and taken out; looks like via some sort of suction. Then the new one goes in and is patted into place. I didn't feel much at all! My eyes burned for a while afterwards, but I slept for a solid 6 hours which is what I was supposed to do, and experienced sort of blurred vision due to the swelling. But this morning - I can see very well and can see much better close up. It was habit to reach for my glasses next to my bed to put them on and then realized I didn't have to. So there it is!!!!
